The heritage and community committee of the world games of the supreme committee for hosting Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi 2019 continued its regular meeting to discuss the latest plans, programs and initiatives to host the Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi as part of the “Host Cities Program for Special Olympics” that will be accomplished as per the approved plan and achieve the sustainable results. The meeting was headed by Her Excellency Hessa Bint Essa Bu Humaid, Minister of Community Development and Chairman of the Community and International Heritage Games Committee in the attendance of representatives and members of supporting entities, federal, government and semi government sectors as well as the executive committee of the local committee for special Olympic international games.
In a statement, Her Excellency Hessa Bint Essa Bu Humaid, said: “The meeting enhances and fulfills high national expectations and builds confidence of the role of the community and heritage committee and in support of the diversified success for the events, initiatives and programs of the special Olympics. It is very important to pay attention to the details, initiatives and programs that complete the international leading role of the UAE”.
Her Excellency noted that any success can be accomplished or completed without the cooperation and solidarity of everyone. In regards of volunteering, the volunteer’s role is not limited to guidance and mentoring only but it is an essential part and an influential factor in encouraging sustainable community participation, noting that the national platform “volunteers.ae” helped the organizers a lot in
identifying a quality of volunteers who are skilled with different hobbies and interests to ensure the success of the big international Special Olympic Event 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting discussed the first survey which was circulated in eight countries of the Middle East and North Africa “MENA” region to discuss the opinion of the community members about the people of determination and various initiatives and programs that would enhance the meaning of comprehensive inclusion especially among students and the youth in the community schools and include them in all the activities of the community.
The host cities program is one of the most important event that is associated with a sports international event and this requires all the community members to participate and interact to make this mega event a great success especially that it deals with people of mental disabilities. The host cities program enhances the role of the UAE community in supporting the people of determination generally and mental disabilities specifically through the solidarity of all entities.
